I had never heard of Fairy Tale Eggplant until this year. They are ready to be picked when 3-4" long. They're supposed to be incredibly tasty sliced length-wise, marinated then grilled with the skin on.
I bought this plant (and I only have one, unfortunately) from the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden's plant sale this spring. It was advertised as a great choice for planting in a container so we have it in a large terracotta pot on our deck, getting sunshine most of the day. It dries out quickly so we're dousing it every day with a pitcher full of water.
The plant is loaded with fruit and blooms! I can't wait to cook these gems. Recipes to come!!
